Manufacturing Runs on Relationships: Meet Mark Olson

From the products we use every day to the jobs that support families, manufacturing plays a bigger role in our communities than many people realize. As vice president of commercial & industrial banking, Mark Olson has spent years helping manufacturers invest in growth, work through challenges and build for the future.

Blue-Collar Roots, Relationship-Focused Career

Growing up in a blue-collar family, Mark gained an early appreciation for hard work and the people behind the products we rely on. While he knew his own strengths were better suited to building relationships than working in a manufacturing facility, those roots gave him a lasting connection to the industry.

"As a commercial lender, I help businesses access the capital they need to grow," Mark said. "Whether that's expanding production, investing in facilities or creating new jobs, it's rewarding to play even a small role in helping companies succeed."

Manufacturing Is Everywhere

If you ask Mark about manufacturing, he'll quickly point out that it doesn't fit neatly into one box. Manufacturing spans countless industries and products, so clients bring unique perspectives, challenges and goals for the future.

"Everything we use every day has to be made by someone," Mark said. "That's what makes manufacturing such an interesting industry to work with."

From the products on store shelves to the equipment businesses rely on every day, manufacturing touches nearly every aspect of our lives. For Mark, that variety is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

Helping Businesses Prepare for What's Next

Today's manufacturers are navigating a rapidly changing environment. Competition, workforce development, automation and new technologies continue to shape the industry. Through ongoing conversations with clients across a variety of industries, Mark helps business owners think through these opportunities and prepare for the future.

One piece of advice he often shares with growing businesses is to build from a strong foundation of people.

"At the end of the day, people are what make a company successful," Mark said. "As a business grows, it's important to invest in the team that helped get you there."

A Front-Row Seat to Growth

Throughout his career, Mark has had the opportunity to watch businesses grow from the ground up. He recalls working with one manufacturer that established operations in the Omaha area with just one salesperson. Over time, he watched the company grow into a thriving operation, creating dozens of jobs along the way.

Experiences like that are what make commercial banking rewarding for Mark. By working alongside clients through challenges and opportunities, he gets a front-row seat as they build their businesses and strengthen their communities.

More Than Financing

For Mark, success always comes back to relationships.

"Any bank can lend money," he said. "What matters is the relationship behind it."

That philosophy has guided his 25-year banking career and still shapes how he serves clients today. He values Security National Bank's consistency, stability and relationship-focused culture, as well as the opportunity to work alongside business owners through every stage of growth.
