Upholding Mickey's values, we've embedded his principles into our identity. Since inception, we have remained committed to being privately held and family-owned and operated, spanning three generations of the Landen family.

It's the heart of the business that Clarence "Mickey" Landen, Jr. and the Landen family began in 1964, and it's been our touchstone ever since.

Today, Mickey's sons Jim and C.L., along with third-generation James Landen, Jr., and Jim Huerter, breathe life into this belief through our day-to-day operations. Although we originated in Omaha, NE, our footprint extends across local communities and into the Iowa and Texas markets.

Expanding Horizons

After decades of serving Iowans, our deep understanding of their needs led us to expand our Iowa presence from Council Bluffs to Des Moines. In March 2020, we opened our branch doors in Des Moines, solidifying our commitment to the area. Further growth followed, with the inauguration of a Deposit and Loan Production Office in December 2023. Located in Iowa's vibrant and growing communities, our locations are an integral part of their neighborhoods.

In Texas, a similar commitment drove our expansion efforts, and as long-time residents of the state, we made a strategic decision to expand our footprint. James Landen, Jr. joined us in 2019 to spearhead our Texas market, launching our first Texas location in March 2020. The resilience of our team exceeded expectations, propelling us to surpass our five-year goals for the Texas market.

Our Texas team has since emerged as the bank's hub for Small Business Administration (SBA) lending, achieving SBA Preferred Lender Status and ranking as a Top 10 SBA Lender in Dallas. In early 2023, we opened a Loan Production Office in Addison, Texas, to accommodate our growing lending program. As our team expanded, so did our ability to efficiently meet and exceed our client's expectations.

Meet our Executive Leadership

Jim Landen, Sr. Executive Chairman

Jim Landen, Sr. Executive Chairman

James E. “Jim” Landen, Sr., serves as executive chairman. Jim started his career with the bank in 1987 and has served in various roles throughout his career, including president and CEO.
Jim is strongly involved in the Omaha and Dallas communities, including currently serving as board chair of Clarkson Regional Health Service, and as a member of the Executive Board of Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business, his alma mater. He is also a board member of Canopy South. Jim continues the legacy of his grandfather, Clarence L. Landen, Jr., in his involvement with the Salvation Army, currently as an Omaha Advisory board member and previously as a national board member.
He has also served on the American Bankers Association Community Bankers Council and the Nebraska Bankers Association Executive Board. He is a past board member of Children’s Hospital and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife, Diny, served as 2011 Campaign Co-Chairs for the United Way of the Midlands. They were named Citizen of the Year in 2021.
They have three sons, James, Wilson and Charlie, who live in Dallas with their families. James serves as Texas market president and is a board member at the bank.

Its focus is on business banking, complemented by a strong private client services division offering private banking, wealth management, trust planning and investment services. The bank has locations in Omaha, Council Bluffs, Des Moines and Dallas.

Clarence L. “C.L.” Landen, III., serves as CEO. C.L. started his career with Security National Bank in 1980, holding positions including president throughout his career.
He and the bank are committed to maintaining its strong history of service and community engagement. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of Methodist Hospital and Nebraska Methodist Health System. He is also a Westside School Foundation board member. He and his wife, Patty, are co-chairs of the Heart Ministry Center Holy Smokes fundraiser, and he is a member of Suburban Rotary of Omaha.
C.L. is a past Governor of the Aksarben Foundation, and a past board member of Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands, Fontenelle Forest, the Mid-America Council of Boys Scouts of America and the Nebraska Bankers Association.
He and his wife, Patty, have three adult children, Katie, Louis and Kelly, who live in Omaha and Dallas.
C.L. is a graduate of the University of Denver with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Tim Sullivan President

Tim Sullivan President

Tim joined the bank in 2021. As president, Tim is committed to developing and mentoring our organization's next generation of leaders.
Launching his banking career immediately after college, Tim had yet to learn where banking would lead him. He started as an internal auditor, and in retrospect, that role provided a perfect foundation. It exposed him to various departments, where his passion for commercial lending grew.
With nearly 40 years of banking experience, his dynamic leadership skills and expertise in commercial lending have been instrumental in the bank's evolution. Tim's leadership style centers around empowering his team to take ownership, and he believes that encouraging confidence in decision-making is one of the most effective ways for individuals to learn and grow.
Having spent most of his career at large banks, Tim developed a newfound appreciation for our small, community-minded bank. He embraced it while adding tremendous value from his extensive experience. His ongoing efforts continue to enhance our culture and our clients' experience.
Tim's passion lies in upholding our legacy as a high-performing, relationship-focused bank. In overseeing all markets, he ensures that the bank's strategic visions remain aligned with our historical roots. Tim's daily focus revolves around maintaining our status as a family-owned, privately held institution, prioritizing exceptional customer service.
Serving as an active advisory board member of the Creighton University Heider College of Business, Tim also contributes to additional community causes with his wife, Connie. They are actively involved with the Siena Francis House and the American Cancer Society.
Tim holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an MBA from Creighton University.
In his free time, Tim spends quality time with his wife, Connie, and four adult children. Fortunate to have three kids residing in the Omaha area and another nearby in Chicago, Tim cherishes family time. He enjoys traveling with his wife and taking vacations with the entire family. You'll also catch him on the golf course or cheering on Creighton basketball or Husker football. When not on the move, he likes to unwind with laid-back evenings at home.

Debbie Newkirk EVP, Chief Financial Officer

Debbie Newkirk EVP, Chief Financial Officer

Debbie joined the bank in 1990. As CFO, she leads the operations of accounting & finance and oversees and develops our financial team as we grow in size and complexity.

With her multifaceted role, Debbie enjoys using her financial expertise and strategic thinking to collaborate with others in guiding the bank's long-term success. She uses her leadership skills to mentor and develop others to be successful. As the banking industry continually evolves, Debbie advocates embracing new learning opportunities for herself and her team. Additionally, one of her personal goals as CFO is to support and encourage all women to strive for success in a way that is meaningful to them.

For nearly 35 years, Debbie has chosen to grow her career at Security National Bank for good reasons. She demonstrates shared values and appreciates the high standards to ensure customers feel confident their financial transactions are in good hands. Through ethical practices, reliability and forward-thinking, the bank aims to instill trust.

As long-term connections with customers are a high priority, Debbie works daily to instill practices among her team members to ensure they are consistently demonstrating genuine concern for the well-being of customers and the community by providing quality support, expert guidance and financial solutions that are in the best interest of those we serve.

Debbie is proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to the bank's success in growing from $60 million to $1.7 billion—and the best part is that she has worked alongside so many talented employees who have contributed to that same success.

As a community advocate, Debbie serves on the Security National Bank's board of directors, the Completely Kids' board and finance committee, the Habitat for Humanity Omaha finance committee and Nebraska Bankers' NBISCO board.

Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In her downtime, Debbie enjoys riding her bike, reading and traveling. Married for 39 years to her husband Lonnie, they can often be found on bike trails around Omaha and Okoboji. One of their favorite bike trails at night is the High Trestle Trail near Woodward, IA. Debbie has two adult children who live in Texas and Washington.

Doug joined the bank in 2004 and heads our Private Client Services division. He's responsible for leading services that include trust and estate administration and wealth and investment management. Doug's leadership philosophy centers around understanding our clients deeply—beyond numbers and strategies—through personal conversations about their concerns, goals and aspirations.
During his more than 40 years of experience in leadership and client relations, Doug has witnessed the profound effect of trust-building. He firmly believes that his team's strength doesn't solely come from industry knowledge and excellent financial solutions; it stems from each individual's dedication to connect at a personal level and serve as a compassionate resource—even beyond financial offerings.
As a community bank committed to family values, genuine friendliness, and localized support, Doug's diverse role contributes to our success across various areas of the bank. His emphasis on trust, estate, wealth and investment services positions us uniquely.
In our interactions with individuals and families facing tough or emotional times, we prioritize active listening and providing resources and management solutions to help alleviate stress. Doug and his team find these client relationships rewarding as they focus on building connections founded on trust and a sincere concern for their well-being.
With two decades of service at Security National Bank, Doug takes pride in his team's longevity. Their commitment contributes significantly to positioning the bank as a reliable and trusted asset for our clients.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate from Creighton University.
Outside his career, Doug enjoys spending time with his three adult children and two grandchildren. He considers himself lucky to have them all live in the Omaha area, which provides him with ample family time. Doug finds joy in traveling, spending time at his lake house, playing golf and being outdoors.

John Gessert, J.D. EVP, Private Client Services

John Gessert, J.D. EVP, Private Client Services

John joined the bank in 2024 and co-heads our Private Client Services division. He’s responsible for leading services that include trust and estate administration and wealth and investment management.
With over 31 years of experience and a dedication to serving people, John stands out as an exceptional division leader. His needs-based, advice-driven approach ensures an outstanding client experience, while his commitment to embracing a diverse team optimizes the delivery of exceptional service.
Driven to serve his community, John is a proud board member of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation NE/IA Chapter, The Nebraska Council on Economic Education, and the Benson Theatre. He is also a very active Rotarian.
John earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and a juris doctorate at the University of Nebraska College of Law. He has also earned his Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) and Certified Wealth Strategist (CWS) professional designations.
In his spare time, John is an active musician and drummer and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Gerry joined the bank in 2009. As Chief Lending Officer, Gerry dedicates himself to our client’s success by ensuring his team of lending professionals is well-equipped with the necessary resources to deliver a high level of personalized service and support.
With over 40 years in the banking industry, primarily focusing on lending, Gerry developed a passion for assisting clients with their financing needs. Additionally, he developed a strong interest in mentoring individuals and teams, sharing the wealth of knowledge gained from his comprehensive background. Gerry’s overarching personal mission is to assist individuals in discovering their full potential to help make their dreams a reality.
As an executive member of our community-focused bank, Gerry advocates for community-based organizations and is actively involved with Metropolitan Community College (MCC), Intercultural Senior Center and Completely Kids to support their missions of serving the Greater Omaha area.
Currently serving as board president of the Metropolitan Community College Foundation, Gerry enjoys supporting and promoting the educational mission MCC provides its student population. One way he provides support is through creating awareness for their outstanding programs.
Born and raised in Omaha, he attended Omaha Creighton Prep High School and graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with an emphasis in finance management and marketing.
Outside the office, Gerry enjoys traveling with his wife, Rosie, and spending time with their adult children and families, especially their two grandchildren! His hobbies include time spent outdoors—hiking, biking and fishing.

Jarryd Israel EVP, Chief Credit Officer

Jarryd Israel EVP, Chief Credit Officer

Jarryd joined the bank in 2022. As CCO, he leads the bank's team of credit professionals responsible for underwriting, loan approval and portfolio management. With 15 years in various credit administration roles, Jarryd brings a track record of success.
With his expertise in credit risk management, he quickly proved to be an essential team member in the bank's growth. From improving efficiencies to creating more collaboration amongst associates, he has been a leading force in cultivating a better customer experience.
Jarryd excels in steering a team dedicated to supporting client relationships and developing customized financial solutions. His strategic vision and commitment to excellence drive the credit division's success.
Jarryd earned a Juris Doctorate in banking and commercial law from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Jarryd also attended the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas.
Outside of work, Jarryd loves spending time with his wife, Christa and three young daughters, Isla, Thea and Blair. Much of his time is spent rooting for his daughters at sporting events. Apart from chauffeuring his daughters around to different activities, Jarryd enjoys hanging out with friends, fly fishing, and traveling as much as possible.
